With an eye on safety, NUMEROUS hard working Weslaco members have been building our new pistol range.  Again, much thanks to the Friends of the NRA for the funding to help make this project possible.

Every year our Annual Banquet grows in popularity and this year was no exception. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Terry B, Brett F for helping me out with the raffle and Herb and Lynn A for selling a boat load of tickets!

I would also like to thank our members who were able to donate raffle items for this year's event. Thanks to: Herb and Lynn A, Rick G, Gerry B, Doc B, Don Y, Rollin S, Terri G, Howard G, Garrett M, Charles R, Amanda and Willy H, Jack L, Mike F, Bill M, Lynn W, Judy and Bob M, Andy M, Mark P, and Wayne T, and Steve D.  The tables were full of bling again this year.

A great big thank you goes out to Gander Mountain, Great Lakes Outdoor Supply, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Willoughby Elks Club who always come thru for us each year with several donated items for us to raffle off!  Guys, please make sure you support these companies throughout this year’s season. They are always there for Weslaco!  Last but not least is the Weslaco Board of Directors who were also able to donate several items and for hosting this event each year.

The Friends of the NRA are VERY good to us here at Weslaco.  As a matter of fact, we have them to thank for the very generous funding we've recently received to be used for our new pistol range.  That being said, we ALL need to support them in the same way The Friends of the NRA have supported us.  The Friends of the NRA 6th Annual Giant Reverse Raffle will be Friday May 24th, 2013 at La Malfa Party Center in Mentor.

Doors open at 6 PM and the open buffet (the food at LaMalfa is GREAT) goes from 7PM to 9PM.  There will also be a cash bar for your enjoyment.

Weslaco was awarded $2,500.00 in equipment (rifles, pistols, and ammunition) and $4,000.00 in a range construction grant from "the friends of the NRA".  Wow!  THANK YOU FRIENDS OF THE NRA!  Now you know why we always beg you to support the Friends of the NRA and their events.
Mitch B, Bob M. Terry and his son, Bill M, and Jack L staked out the new pistol range a few weeks ago.  There is lots of work that needs to be done before Mitch can bring in the equipment to start digging.  Trees around the range need to be cut down and cut up for fire wood, branches need to be burned up trimmed and disposed of.  There is some wood cut up already.  You are welcome to bring your chainsaw to the new pistol range site and cut this already downed wood into firewood for your personal use.
Anyone that would like to help, please give Jack L a call, or see him on Tuesday night at the club.  Once the weather warms up a bit we need to get started.
